I mean no disrespect, of course – Dior is one of the strongest brands in the history of plans and luxury as we know, and they do a fantastic job with a lot of aspects of their business (I am a particular fan of their makeup). When it comes to bags, though … What happens?
Together with the Fendi Baguette, Dior Saddle Bag Bag It helped launched the trend that has led many of us interested in designing bags. Since then, however, the mark was a little ’silent when it comes to design influential stock. With the notable exception of the Gaucho bag was mostly bags, as the Lady Dior Dior top handle for the last five years.
Not that there’s something wrong with this bag or this type of design – is not there. But there was so little change in vision from Dior accessories department in the past few seasons that I’m beginning to wonder if they still value their accessories division at all. Since Dior has a successful business perfumes and cosmetics, accessories, probably not so essential to the financial success of the brand as they are for most brands, but still seems a bit ‘weird.
Accessories are one of the most important ways That a designer constructs his image, and that most of the luxury brands have done well during the recession have done so on the backs of their handbags, shoes and accessories. In light of those things, I can not help but wonder why Dior is calling when they have the financial capacity to design and make bags that almost everyone would probably want us to buy.
